Is HideShow free?
Joining is free, and every new account starts with 50 credits. A message is half a credit per 200 characters until a conversation reaches 100% chemistry, and a whole one after that. Photos, voice notes, videos and calls cost credits, and answering a video call is always free. Nothing you pay for changes chemistry or what anyone can see of you.
How do I get free credits?
Every new account starts with 50 free credits. Every day you get a free spin of the daily lottery, which can win up to 300 credits, extra letters, a free minute of video call or another free spin. On the 15th of every month, any account holding fewer than 30 credits is given 30. Your first 20 letters every day are free, and writing back is always free.
Can I chat for free?
Partly. Writing to someone new starts with a letter, and your first 20 letters a day are free, as is writing back. Once you are both talking, a message costs half a credit per 200 characters until 100% chemistry, so the 50 free credits you start with cover about a hundred messages. Answering a video call is always free.
Is HideShow a private dating app?
Yes, privacy is the point. Your photos hang behind a torn paper until a conversation earns them, and the face is removed on the server, not by the app. Other people see your city and a distance band, never your exact location. There are no ads and no third-party trackers, and you can download or delete everything from your profile at any time.
How is HideShow different from swipe dating apps?
On most dating apps a photo decides everything in half a second. On HideShow people read your profile and talk to you first: the paper over each photo tears away in stages as chemistry grows from both sides of the conversation, through messages, voice notes and puzzles about each other. Money cannot buy a clearer photo, and video calls open only at 100% chemistry.
Which languages is HideShow in?
HideShow works in 17 languages, including English, Portuguese, Spanish, French, German, Japanese and Arabic, and emails and notifications arrive in your language too. It is open to adults internationally.
Can someone screenshot my photos?
Before a conversation reaches Trusted, there is nothing worth capturing: the server sends the photo with the face removed where the paper hangs, not a clear photo with something drawn over it. Once your photos are clear, someone could screenshot them, as on any app, which is why clarity has to be earned in conversation first.
Can I pay to see someone’s photos sooner?
No. There is no purchase, subscription or boost that moves chemistry or a reveal level. The only way up is a conversation both of you take part in.
Who can see where I am?
People see your city and a distance band such as “under 5 km”. Your exact coordinates and postcode are never sent to anyone, and location data is stripped from photos when you upload them.
When can we video call?
At 100% chemistry. A live camera shows a face more completely than any photograph, so it is the last thing on the ladder. Calls are peer-to-peer and are never recorded.
What if someone makes me uncomfortable?
Block or report them from their profile or the conversation. A reported conversation is kept as evidence while the report is open, even if the other person deletes their account.
Why do you need my date of birth?
HideShow is for adults only, and an account cannot be created without one. Other people see your age, never the date.
Can I take my data with me, or delete it?
Yes, both, from your profile. Download everything held about you as one file, or delete your account: photographs, conversations and profile are erased, not hidden.
