Safety policy

What is not allowed, what we check, and how we respond. Updated 15 September 2026.

Background checks

HideShow does not conduct criminal background checks on its members.

We do not screen for criminal records or exclude people for past convictions. We act on conduct.

Not allowed

  • Sexual conduct without consent, online or in person. This always violates this policy.
  • Sharing intimate images of anyone without consent.
  • Harassment, threats, stalking or violence.
  • Anyone under 18.
  • Scams, fraud or asking for money.
  • Fake profiles or impersonation.
  • Hate speech, spam or illegal content.

Age and identity

  • Age: members give a date of birth and confirm they are 18 or over. We do not check ID documents.
  • Email: must be confirmed before an account can be used.
  • Photo verification is optional: a person, or face matching if the member consents, compares a selfie with their photos.

How to report

  • In the app: choose Report in a chat menu or on a profile.
  • No account: contact form or support@hideshow.chat.
  • Intimate images: removal request.

In danger? Call your local emergency services first.

How we respond

  • A person reads every report.
  • Reports about minors or intimate images come first. Valid image removals happen within 48 hours.
  • Reported chats are kept as evidence while the report is open.
  • We may remove content, warn, or close accounts, and we work with police when the law requires.

Telling other members

We do not tell other members about a report. If our scam check flags a message, its recipient sees a warning.

Closing accounts

  • Closed for good: sexual conduct without consent, sharing intimate images, threats, minors, scams.
  • Warned or closed: harassment, fake profiles, hate speech, spam.
  • A closed account cannot come back under a new one.
